I've purchased a 'new with tags' Rallye 2 Pro jacket and am impatiently awaiting it's arrival. When I reviewed the pictures of the jacket I noticed on the label it says Made in China. The ones I've seen at the local dealer say Made in Indonesia.

I realize that most things are made off shore however.....does BMW have more than one producer of that line or did they change factories during the Rallye 2 Pro production over the past few years.

Perhaps mine is old stock or something.....

I had one of the original R1 jackets , that was made in Hungary . They keep shifting the manufacturing , depending where is cheaper .
Material is delivered ready cut to where ever and than assembled . It shows , on a recent Comfort shell jacket the Velcros on one of the pockets was the same ,ie wouldn't stick . On a £430 jacket is poor show .
Gone are the days when every item had a code of the person who inspected the garment.

Mine's fairly new and is also from Indonesia. TBH I'm not bothered as long as the quality is OK and/or it gets fixed under warranty if it breaks.

A quick comment....

I bought a size 58, which was made in China. I took it home and tried it on in various combinations of liner in or out and number of layers of clothing. Whilst doing this I had a very good look at the jacket and noticed a few details. The draw string at the bottom was faulty, there was no elastic at the sides of the waist, the zips for the detachable bag were not covered. It just didn't look right.

I took it back to the dealer and swapped for a 56, which was made in Indonesia. This is a much better made jacket in my opinion, and I'm still happy with it two years later. So the one Indonesian made Rallye 2 pro jacket I've looked at closely is much better than the one Chinese made jacket I've looked at closely.

Reviewing several yesterday, I note China in one labe,l Indonesia in another (the 2 colour option clearly outsourced to different supply chain) and then the trousers where marked Bosnia. And I still didn't find one that fitted.
Note to self - I must actually remember to go on that diet if I want a wally suit
