BMW sales record high

According to an article I’ve just read it’s due to all the Euro 5 bikes still in stock being pre registered to allow them to be sold before Euro 5+ comes into force. I’ve not fact checked this info.

a quick glance at https://approvedused.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/UK/ergebnisse.cshtml would not support that if you search by registration date

I bought a Euro 3 bike in 2016. It had to be registered that year. The dealers were given significant incentives to sell the bikes by end of Q3. I bought mine on the last weekend of September with a good discount. It was the last new R1200RS Euro 3 in stock at Cotswold. BMW had not actually made any Euro 3 bikes for many months. All of the other R1200RS on the floor were already Euro 4 spec.

For this year, look at the deals they were offering to get rid of the R1250 RT & GS before the end of summer.

BMW is not KTM, they do not tend to have a lot of residual stock hanging around at the end of a year where there is a model or regulation change. The vast majority of BMW bikes sold, especially boxers, are built to order not drawn from stock.

And how many of those bikes were actually purchased rather than loaned via a PCP.
…..and how many are going to be handed back by the time Rachel the chess champion has finished doing her worst ?

As far as the manufacturer and uk importer is concerned it doesn’t matter one iota
A sale is a sale (or registration) whether you paid cash or a finance company paid for the unit
It’s on the finance companies books now (the risk is theirs and not BMW’s and BMW will be happy as they are not sitting ducks like KTM are, with a warehouse full of unsold new bikes) and the manufacturer has made a sale

How does that compare to the voges Chinese sales 🤣🤣
Looks to be just less than 10% of Voge and their global sales (Loncin) of 2.5 million......(and Loncin make some of the engines in the BMWs...just to lend 'em a hand...)

No actual bikes not engines or parent companies.
