have been using a System 5 for 18 months in all weather conditions, use it every day, and have never had a leak...as to bike, what bike do you have...:D

No they don't leak, actually completely the opposite, mine has never leaked in all weathers and in huge downpours.

But...

1. The screen will mist up. Another £75 for a double glazed.
2. The flip-lid mechanism will fail less than <18 month. See my thread in Technical. Either £12 or £100 to replace will find out Wed.
3. They are quite heavy unless you find a Carbon Fibre one. :ymca
4. Being able to don the front and wear sunglasses is very cool.
5. A very quiet helmet.

I bought a System 5 in December 06 and paid the extra to get the double glazed visor as well. I wasn't pleased to find that double glazed actually is only a pinlock item.

Having said that the pinlock does work extremely well.

In my experience water pours into the system 5 through the chin vent if you leave it open above about 45mph. It then sprays all over the inside of the visor. I have also had water run down the inside of the visor from the shallow "V" shape sculpted into the top of the visor.

Pinlock pins failed in less than two months but the visor was replaced under warranty without argument.

I won't be buying another System 5 even though it is a huge improvement over the Caberg Justissimo that I used previously with the exception of the built in sun shield which I miss in the "5".

There doesn't seem to be any helmet with anything approaching universal approval. Most of them are apparently designed for fair weather riders.

try a nolan with built in sun visor and optional bluetooth headst hookup really good flip up that looks cool in black

Have a Shoei Multitech for sale, 2 weeks old, black, size small. I chose small thinking it would give in time but gave me headache after one hour:eek:
Now going to buy a medium as I should have done in the first place:spitfire
£200 if you are interested.

Schuberth C2 vs System V

I have a System V andf a Schuberth C2. The system v is a little bit quieter and smoother regarding buffeting. It has the pinlock visor which is very good - no misting. The Schuberth is comfy, quiet, has the little sun visor thingy (which is GREAT) but the flip up mechanism is not quite as easy as the bmw one. No problems with water on the system v - in fact no problems at all except I miss the little sun visor. The schuberth mists up badly and lets water in when you crack the visor to clear the mist. I guess a pinlock on the visor would cure this completely.

SO,

sunny day, schuberth is the best

rainy day the system v is best (oh yes, and it's a bit warmer than the schuberth)

Hope this helps,

Brian

Door width

38 inches will just clear the hand guards. The engine bars are closer to 30 inches but it's a real pain having to feed the handlebars through a narrow door. 5 or 6 ft is much better. :)

Thanks for advise on helmets !

Tried out the Shoie Multitect, Very impressed, Perfect fit .Will keep you posted , when its fully tested.
