Hello everybody,
can someone recommend the best (or at least good) place to do 12 000 miles service around Cambridge? There are few dealers around, so I was wondering if they differ in price/quallity of sevice.

Cheers

Vaclav

A bit piggy in the middle with the main dealers being in Peterbourgh or Ware (SBW) about 20 miles south of Cambridge

Threre are several local bike shops but avoid Allins (serviced my mates bike without removing the fairing  and tried to charge him even though they did nothing)

A couple of workshops also about i think one in milton is recomended (cant remember name) or Malthouse motorcycles in Harston.

Depends what your looking for

Authorized service

I am looking for an authorized BMW sevice - someone who can stamp my service book :).
I have called Balderston Motorcycles today - seems alright, but they ask ca 285 quid for service, that other members on this forum reported to get for ca 200-250 (at different dealers, of course).

I am therefore looking for any recommendations of good BMW service offering good service at reasonable prices :rob.

Probably about the right sort of price

Dont go to SBW just checked my invoice for my 12k service and it was near £450(£175 on a new rear tyre)

Balderstones have recived good reports in the past and always seemed good when ever i have popped in.

I have bought two new bikes from Balderston over the last 6 years and been very happy with their customer service - their current service manager Gary is always very helpful and professional - prices are pretty much the same as all the others BMW dealers. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Hey up.
Norwich isn't so far away and I would always use Lind Motorad; and besides its a good excuse to take a ride.
Cannons in Braintree is so much closer to me but I avoid them.

Motoscot at Caddington is independent and can stamp your book too! - Read reviews on here if you're unsure.

I have used Cannon at Braintree for my last 2 services, and I am really pleased with the experience. I know a lot of people have had bad experiences but at the moment it is all good from my perspective and they have been reasonably priced.

When I rang around for the 12,000 service Lind wanted £250, SBW around £300 and Cannon did it for just under £220.

Cheers,

Matt

I always use Allins, I always mark the parts discreetly so I know they have been replaced. I just changed my Aprillia Caponord for a 1150GS.
When I took the Caponod last year to Aprillia in Huntingdon for a fork seal replacement, the forks started to leak a short while after. Took it to Allins they did a proper job, the bushes needed replacing which is why they still leaked. Allins fixed it properly, cleaned and oiled the chain for good measure and checked the tyre pressures.

Excellent service!

My local is P'boro Baldersons, new premises, Gary is very professional/helpful and thorough prices are reasonable /competitive.
Just watch their entrance gate with all the snow/ice around.:blast

So it seems you are spoilt for choice as they all seem favourable?:comfort

Speaking as someone who recently had a combined annual / 12k service at Canons Braintree, and I have to say I had a good experience and was very happy the price. A loan bike for a tenner, gave me a chance to try a new r1200gs.

I know that everyones experiences differ, but I have never had problems.

(that and the fact they're my local)

Rick Holmes in Milton seems to get good comments from some on here, but I've not tried him myself yet.

Same here - did pretty much all the services for me over the past four years (including warranty work) with a free collect and deliver service as well (at certain times of year ...)

Hey guys, I do realise that this reply is late as this is an old post, and I am truly sorry for that, but I thought this info might bere helpful. If anyone is still looking then you may want to check out Bartlett Automotive http://www.bartlett-auto.com they are an Independent BMW and Mini Specialist and they really know there stuff. When you go to the big boys you seem to loose that personal touch so I figure why pay more to be treated worse when I can pay less get the same quality service if not better, and have people appreciate my business. Just my thoughts. :thumb
