I will be taking My GSA to Morocco in the summer and will need the 6000 mile service whilst there, does anyone know where I can get a reliable dealer and what it is likely to cost - we will be staying near Essouira.

The only recognized BMW dealer in Morocco is in Casablanca. Very posh looking place and they sell cars as well as bikes. Parts are expensive, somebody on tour with me last time I was there (October 2010), needed a new battery for a 1200GS and it was £180

They speak a little bit of English, but I have found them quite helpful.
However, you may want to get the service done in Algeciras on the way back, which could prove less expensive.

get it serviced before you go, pain in the arse taking a day off to get it done when you are there, if its not over by much get it done when you are back!!!
+1, why send your time worrying that you may go over the service interval or not even getting it serviced at all, at least if you get it done before you go you will know that its been checked over before your trip -
I forgot to mention that Essouira is about 1300 road miles from Plymouth, that is if you get the ferry back from Santander. So even if you are in Morocco and getting near to your 6000 service, I doubt that going over by a few hundred miles would make all that much difference if you got the service done at BMW Plymouth on your return to Blighty.
As Dave said, why waste a day of the tour kicking your heals in Casablanca, (big industrial city and a shite hole in my opinion). The ONLY thing worth looking at in Casablanca is the Hassan II Mosque and even then I'm not sure getting through the traffic (and heat) is worth it.

I had my 1200GSA serviced at Smeia a couple of years ago on the way back from Senegal. Incredibly inexpensive and very quick. Plus an interesting stamp for the service book.
Got to agree with the above... get it done before you go, or run over the mileage a little and get it done when you get back
It won't hurt anything. no harm to be done!
It's OK having it done over there, as Tim suggests, but if they break anything, strip any threads, remove something and can't get the parts, then you could be down the river without a paddle
"Sorry but I am bemused of the asking of this question" Me too Bakers...
Thanks for all the responses. Fact is that we are riding from the highlands all the way there and back so it is 6000+ and it would be the 6000 mile service that I am a. about 3000 miles early for or b. 3000 miles late for Not sure my local dealer would be that impressed re any warranty claims.
