Hi has anybody any experiance with this helmet. Thinking of buying one from local dealer
Used a Sys 6 over 3000miles . I had a Sys.5 before , the 6 is quieter and about 300 grams less weight .
Nothing has fallen off or broke, it didn't fog up in the rain or leak.
Riding with the chin piece raised up to 60 is not a problem.
But there is a crucial design flaw . On the Sys 5 when you lock the chin piece there is audible double click . On the new helmet you cant hear the double click ( is mentioned in the owners manual as a indication that the helmet is locket in place ) . I found in some cases that the chin piece was only locket on one side and was loose on the other side . Now I check that the chin piece secured , with two hands.
Considering that the chin piece is designed to be raised and locket with one hand ( as per O.M) is bad show from BMW .
Dealer checked other helmets and they have the same issue. There is no audible indication that the helmet is locked
Had a look at the new Schuberth C3 and the locking mechanism they use is like on the old Sys 5.
Frankh mentioned that the locking mechanism broke , well the only way you can be sure that is locked ( when you use one hand) is to slam the chin piece down ,in a violent manner . Maybe that why it broke?
Still pleased with it.

I got one in April, visor mechanism broke within a month, replaced with a complete new helmet under warranty, this one lasted about 2 months, broke again, waiting for spares to fix. I here there might be a recall ?? any one else had problems ? other than that it is a lovely helmet.
Hi,where did you purchase this helmet for under £300.Please.
Have you still got the helmet or is it at the dealers?
If you still have it, lift the visor and look at the toothed part of the mechanism you will probably find one side is out of position, it is not very difficult to get it back operational until the spares arrive. Drop me a pm if you need me to describe how to do this. Mine failed four times travelling round Europe last month and didn't have the luxury of a dealer to swap it out.
