bmw topcase r1200 gs

Hi folks, Ive just bought a kyham biker tent and hope to take a wee trip with my wife. I have the full standard luggage on my bike, my problem is that the biker tent is to big to go into the topcase, does anyone know of a rack that would fit on to the top of the topcase and thus enable me to secure the tent on to it, the tent is not that heavy so I have no concerns about placing addittional weight high up on the bike. I have searched the internet to no avail, any thoughts? Thanks John

Was just thinking the same this morning, will be taking my son camping in the summer and was wondering where to strap the tent, look like I'm off to buy some rok straps then

Thanks for your reply but i was thinking more of a bigger version of the wee rack you (wilbjr21) have on top of your pannier , although the rok straps seem like a good alternative, the rack idea would allow easier access to the topcase if required, but thanks again for your reply John

I personally put all my camping gear in a very large dry bag, it sits lovely on the topbox rack and just use two rocstraps to secure it. Its actually just a little narrower than the bike with the panniers un-expandnded. (tent-kyam or vango- , two thermarests, two bags, two stools, sheet, fleece blanket for wifey, cooker, kettle and all manor of bits and bobs and cans in the nooks and crannies hic!! ) I tried the top box and bag on top option but IMHO it looked a little high on the bike. Stable as you like Hope this helps, sorry no phots didn't think to take one and if ewe think I am going to pack it up just for ewe, maybe after the Hograost
