Hopefully a simple question with a simple answer....

Bought a 2008 GSA in July from Pidcocks, with a year of the maunfacturer's warrantly remaing. The question is, should I have any documents (card?) to show that the bike is under warranty? Or is their some kind of Big Brother database that will have the necessary records should I break down?

You should have got a BMW assist card mate with all the numbers that you will be needing.

As long as you're registered with BMW assist they don't now send you a card. All you need is the contact number :thumb

I'd ring them to make sure you're on the system

As he said. I got a second hand bike, 495 miles old! And never received any warranty paperwork. I phoned BMW customer services and was told that the registration and frame numbers are all thats required for any warranty work and gave me the BMW assist number should I need it.

Thank you all, that's put my mind at rest. I was given the numbers for assist when I picked the bike up.

Same for me when i got my bike from Pidcocks :thumb2

That's now expired so have just bought the extended warranty and you still get nothing other than what I printed out.

In the old days you got a comprehensive BMW Warranty booklet:rob

Nowadays the BMW beancounters just dish out a help number

Make a note of it:D

just bought an 07 x challenge which has had extended warranty which has only just run out, bike bought privatley, do you know if the warranty can be extended again and if so how much and is it worth it, the bike has done about 1600 miles , has full bmw service history and i will be using it off road,

If its already run out I doubt they'd let you renew it- if its about to run out can't see why not ;)

i applied to bmw customer services via e mail and was sent a service card for my used r1200gs

Do they send you an invitation to move on to the extended warranty when the 2 year manufacturer warranty runs out ? Mine runs out in Jan '10
