Hi

can anyone tell me what the bmw zumo equates to, ie 550 etc.

I have no idea,

How good is it, The model is the latest one they fit,

I have a 2610 at present and if i trade my bike in I am asking for the sat nav to be fitted to the bike.

It's the Zumo 550 ...

... with a price upgrade :D

i spoke to my friendly local Beeemer spares guy and he said that the BMW Navigator II and III are in his opinion better than the Zumo - and since they are older can be had 2nd hand for less.

I have had a II and considered 'upgrading' but he advised not. Apparently the only upside is that the Zumo and the new BMW rebadge offer is direct Bluetooth connectivity. Since I use Autocom for all that stuff and I dont feel the need to use my mobile on the bike in th eoutside lane at a modest ahem, 70, the upgrade would be very costly.

Advice the: look out for an older Garmin or BMW Nav II or III.

:-)

thanks for that,

yes it is blue tooth, how does that work with a starcom unit.

:mmmmHmmm I dont have any experience of Starcom. I know that Autocom has bluetooth capabilities.

Having said that my understanding is that you pair the Zumo with your phone or possibly lid (BMW is launching a new Bluetooth lid in the next month or so); saving the need for cables.

I know that Beemer had issues with their old Bluetooth lids where they would lose connectivity; I dont know if that was a common problem since after all BM dont make their own lids, they are Arai and Schuberth I think.

:)
