Has anyone come up against the following .

I normally wear ear plugs when riding but i forgot to put them in the other day.
My 1200gs (2005) always sounds smooth with them in but when i did not have them in the bike sounded bloody awful.

The sound is like all the panels vibrating when you accelerate - is this normal,
or am i just worring about nothing ?

Vibes

Tried that and made sure the fastners were tight - it almost seems that when the bike revs grow the whole screen/fairings etc vibrate.
Feels like i would need to put rubbers in between the gaps ?

Oh well:nenau

Front of the windscreen, the pivots, take um out and tape up with taht Plnbers white tape kind of stuff that should stop the rattle...or spend a

kings ransom at Touratwat for the fix they sell...

it maybe that there's nothing wrong. I always ride with custom moulded earplugs in. I popped out without them the other day and realised my GS sounds like a bag of spanners falling down the stairs :nenau just what you're used to I think.

I will give that a try tonight as the vibes are weird - must remember to keep those plugs in.

......put your earplugs back in - job done.

I think most of my bikes have had worrying sounds without plugs in. Now I only worrk about things I can hear with the plugs in - after all, you'll feel most serious problems as vibrations.

I had some vibration and movement of the front on the bike recently. After some investigation found the complete front subframe about to fall off. There were only 2 screws left holding it on.

I have a carbon hugger fitted and when I ride without 'plugs' the sound of it flapping around is very disconcerting. I'm amazed that it doesn't foul the tyre but in three years of riding it never has.
