AS some of you may have gathered I am phootering with a wee G/S in my spare time for a certain Fella!

Well I 've done all the donkey work and had a test ride last night and came home with my teeth fulla Midgees!

Couldn't put down the visor on my old system III because the fecker was mistin and couldn't stop smiling cos it's Fun Fun Fun!

Anyway Last Glitch (apart from crappy tank and stuff getting into the carbs, despite the filter!) the headlamp on Dip glows about a 3rd of what it should and the Main Beam warnin lamp glows too??? BUT put it on Main beam and it's perfect??? ANd I mean Perfect bright crisp white light!!!

So any Ideas ?????? Main loom and switch looms (well switches and looms replaced!)

I was gonna take off the front again and check for the bulb holder being wired correctly ~~~~~~~ Any Vibes?

Bad earth, or no earth?

Seconded...sounds like it's earthing through a casing rather than the wire.

Whip the cover off and run a lump (that's a technical term BTW) of wire drekkly from battery -ve to blub and see if it shines like it should....that'll point you in the right direction at least :)

Yes, "But" wouldn't that mean that the main would also be keek?

That's what's confusing me?

Well Well Well!

Would you Adam and Eve it!!!

The loom was wired Farse about Ace!!!

I remember this from my Landy days and took the bulb out and tested it as wired then I tried swopping the earth side over! I also did this with 2 from the drawer and they tested the same way so it's not a rogue bulb LOL

Cured!

So from the factory the new loom (Headlamp plug) was a mirror image of what it should have been!

Ah feels Good Could down a Large cold Magners about Now!!

you are making a fuss about nothing

just get on with it and get its sorted and stop bleating on the forum

It's sorted Bill It was a brand new main loom and a brand new switch and its associated loom, So there was quite a few quid tied up in it! Luckily Not Mine

I was seeing if anyone else had a similar problem, before I went chasing smoke in the wires!

It appears the Negative and the dip beam positve wire at the headlamp plug were fitted opposite from where they should have been so the dim glow was both main and dip beam lamp filaments both illuminated and completing the circuit by earthing back thru the main beam warning lamp again hence the glow

So If anyone buys a new loom perhaps this will be of assistance to them!!

I'd Hardly call it "Bleating" when there's near enough a couple of hundred quid and it's not been made correcty and I'm having to stand like a twat with test lamps and probe arsing around in the garage on a Saturday night! Would You?

Yeh it was an easy fix but why the hell should I have had to go looking for it!

Fcukin BM top Quality Products (NOT!!!!!!!!!) Nowadays!

I cannot find a problems with my R100RS.........I am really unhappy......can someone with similar symptoms advise me.........what should I do

Jay

Apparently if I buy a 1200GS and just wheel it around the drive it should breakdown at least once a week........I could then call the AA man if I had "at home" and he could transport it to the nearest BM dealer _ I could go and pick it up and it would breakdown on the way home or the CANBUS, (whatever that is), would fry something if I turned the lights on.

An idea?

Thanks "alimey4u2" I quite liked that, although last night it wouldn't run and I hadn't a clue what you were trying to say

Nice One

Now Mr Bill What? Are you on about? I must be missing something or you're totally misunderstanding me??

In Summary I'm fixing up a bike for a guy He paid lots and lots of dosh for 2 new switchgear and a main loom and a neutral / oil pressure loom and even a new speedo!!!!

I put it all the nice new stuff together and it's all good except for the tank which has the rusty effect inside and is clogging the slow running jets and the last thing was the headlamp which was only "glowing" and I only found out when I was out in the dark on the test run

So I let people know that the headlamp plug was wired incorrectly on a brand new loom so that If other folks have a similar problem they won't have to search for an answer it's right here for them to see?? That's hardly bleating is it?

I'm really not being antagonistic I'm simply confused by your replies?
