bollox bollox bollox - that'll teach me

So come on then, what was the outcome on this one ????
CW motorcycles in Dorchester picked the bike up.

Rang me the next day "Starter motor Sir"

So, one full service, one new starter motor (£230) and an MOT and it's flying.

Oh it's good to get it back on the road.

well it was about £180 plus VAT so perhaps nearer £220

Had I known it was the starter motor I would have got a recon one from Motorworks or something for about half the price.

It's so helpful AFTER you've just spent out loads of money to have everyone climb on board and tell you how much cheaper they got it for. :upyou

can you...

get your old one back, get it repaired, then sell it or keep it as a spare.

just a thought...

Some of us DID tell you it was your starter moter :P

As Nick says, get it back and recondition it yourself (a tenner for new brushes and clean up the comutator) or pay somebody else to do it and have a spare :thumb2

Erm - you're talking out of your arse. I did ask for help - read the first post.

I had plenty of advice, I had one offer of help (from Bakerman). I did try and take him up on his generous offer, sadly logistics conspired against us.

CW motorcycles were the only place that could
a) collect the bike and
b) look at it inside 2 weeks

I tried every other dealer within about a 60 mile radius of here, as well as several independent specialists.

What is it that causes most contributors on this forum north of the border to talk through their arses so much? :tosser

Well - yes you did, but I had a number of suggestions as to what it might be. If I went out and bought replacement parts based on every different opinion, I would now have a lot of unwanted spare parts lying around.

Not being hugely mechanically adept I explored the things I felt capable of and then sent it somewhere where it would get expert attention.

Can I just point out that Berwick is actually South of the border and in England ( though it has changed sides down through the years )
