Yes you can , via Livigno. When you reach Livigno head south toward Lago Bianco.

Have you tried zooming in on the map because there is a good chance the route is obscured by cloud?

Have you never heard of google maps, it's amazing...you go into google, hit maps.... you type in Bormio and then St Moritz and click on GET DIRECTIONS, and hey fekking presto it gives you a route along the SS301.................:comfort
 
There are much better options, I would go out of the way a bit and ride Passo di Gavia southwards and then come back up via the Bernina pass. It will take twice as long, but be ten times the fun.

You could also run over the Stelvio and then head to St Moritz via Zernez

Yes and than you go on google earth to have a look at the route and hey fekking presto you see a stretch of road is missing (no cloud cover) hence me asking:blast
p.s. I am a bit limited on checking out things as I do all of this on my phone (no pc or laptop:nenau) and for some strange reason I can not use the search function on here on my phone :confused:
 
Do we presume you don't have a GPS with Mapping or... a Map?
Anyway - even if you're doing this on your phone, search works on my phone with Tapatalk.
I think you'll find the missing bits of the road are...tunnels.

fantastic roads there in every direction - if you have the time then use my highly entertaining and enjoyable "failsafe method" on navigation - L,R,L,R etc unless another route takes my fancy. A bit hard to take if you are a Routisata however.
Many a happy hour spent ploughing up and down the Bernina - just practicing with Claudio - RIP.

Yep - tunnels as others have said.

You might find this site useful for additional / supplementary information. Yes (before I get tarred, feathered and torched), I know this is primarily aimed at cyclists but it does give a good selection of other stuff - like route altitude profile, and if you dig deeper, things like webcams and the like. Note however that it gives cyclist-friendly routes over motorcycle / car routes but does give an indication of, in example, suitable for road-racers (which need decent surface but could be carried short distances) as opposed to mountain bikes. Anyhow, use the additional info with caution!

Yep just couldnt see the tunnels on my phone. On google earth and on my map it looked like that it might not be possible to get across there. Had a look at a friends laptop and seen the tunnels, cheers guys.
Does anyone know how to link gogle maps so some of you could maybe have a look at my route and let me know what I maybe missed on "have to see" places?

Select your route in Google maps, put it in the display mode you want people to see, alter the route as you may wish by dragging the marker ball from the suggested route to that which you might wish to take if it differs from the suggested route then: either click the "Link" button and copy the displayed URL, or; right click the web-page address bar and copy the URL, then simply paste into your post - eg:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sadd...hAiP8AAQ&mra=dvme&mrsp=1&sz=10&via=1&t=m&z=10

OR a different view:

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sadd...hAiP8AAQ&mra=dvme&mrsp=1&sz=10&via=1&t=h&z=10

Think you would need to screen dump the map as an image then up-load as an image but I'm not sure if that's what you mean. If it is, I'm not sure what it gains for the people you're sharing it with. Once they have the Google Maps link with your suggested route they can manipulate it and come back with their suggestions...

The screen dump might put you in the mire of copyright law - I can't think that Google would pursue such an issue but you would likely be breaching their IPR to "publish" their material; linking to their site is OK.

Yep thats what I wanted to post up but hey as long as you can get to my maps:thumb

Day one will be down to Vichy and than along my routes till we get to Mainz. Just wanted to know if somebody maybe can give me some tips in the Alp area regarding places to go and see along my routes
