Hello,

Hell of a lot of GS's at Boxhill yesterday (Sun). Seems these bikes are becoming too popular. A least the riders didn't have matching one peice leathers or the Simpson bandit with jogging bottoms vibe. Takes us English a long time to catch on to a good bike eh?

Happy stomping
Sean

I was there at 8am and again at about 1.30pm ( rideout inbetween ). I saw 3 others.

A red 1200,
A grey 1150 ?
And a blue and white one.

Any of them yours ?

I was 2 up on a silver adv with an ally top box.

Its taken me 27 years to realise its a good bike btw, its the experienced riders choice.
:D

I'll second that....

Bought an 1150 last August after owning nothing but big Jap multis (Blackbird/Fireblade/ZZR11/2 x CBR 1000 etc etc ), and have just taken delivery of a 1200GS. TOP TOP fun......why has it taken me so long?!!!!!

I've been down that road too, years of CBR1000's, EXUP, Blades, 'Bird and although they are way more powerful, they are honestly no more fun or easier to ride fast in the twisties than the lardy old GS.

The engineering may be dated but it does the job, is easy to service ( 1 hour start to finish - try that on your 16,000 miler on the 'Bird ) and the satisfaction of leaving a sportsbike behind on country lanes is something else.

Hello,

Hell of a lot of GS's at Boxhill yesterday (Sun).

I now avoid Boxhill on Sunday morning and go to Newlands Corner (near Guildford) instead - despite Boxhill only being 4 B road miles away.

The summer season has arrived and its just turned back into a sports bike boys club. As said above; same bikes, same kit...

Not at all like GS's, Tuareg suits, Tour-X's... :D

Mine is a Graphitan, and I drop round on some evenings. Hope to see you there.

Mike

Mine was the silver 1150 next to me pals red 1200GS and a rather nice example of an RD250.I did like the red/white 1100 close by whoever you are!!

Haven't been to Box Hill for ages. It was very quiet I thought.

Where abouts exactly is the below?

Newlands is an up market box hill with slightly better view and improved cuisine.

More families with kids and cars.

I ride a BM and smell faintly of wee - but I'm not quite ready for Newlands on a regular basis !

I agree. It's very boy racerish down there these days. Couple of guys in the small car park burning their rubbers. My girlfriend did comment "Aren't they a bit old for that?" Horses for courses I guess. The red and white bike was nice. Next time I'm down there I'll be on a white and black Dakar. You'll recognise me because I'll be the one without knee sliders. Joking aside introduce yourselves and vice versa. It's a decent enough place to meet up for a ride out though!

Thanks

That's mine that is!

sorry i wasn't there - i drove up to North Wales for a cuppa, it's better for the engine, getting it warmed up .

:D :D

Newlands corner; its on top of a hill with lots of starting points for Bridleways, footpaths etc. Has an open air cafe only.

Not sure if this Multimap link will work: Newlands Corner

Echo the comments about lots of families, but you do see a much wider (though smaller in number) variety of bikes - including lots of trikes on Sunday mornings if you like to look at some striking "shed works" style mechanical engineering.

Thanks for the info, I shall take a wander up there sometime. I can't believe I'm working this Sunday coming.....shouldn't be allowed.
