Anybody got them?

Any recommendations?

HEL (which I think has been recommended previously for 1150's) do one for the front, but not the rear. Is this 'cos it's so short?

Ta!

Jon:
New 650GSs have a braided front hose anyway (those built/bought in the last year). So, why not buy the genuine BMW part? I'm going to do the same for Lisa's bike at her 6000 mile service this spring when I change the brake fluid.
From my experience of riding the 650, I don't think the rear needs a braided house. Rear wheel braking on the 650 is much stronger than on the 1150. It really needs a braided hose on the front, but personally I wouldn't bother with the rear.

I didn't know BMW did them..........that's why I quoted HEL below.

And apparently neither did Park West BMW when I 'phoned them
:doh

He's quoted me £31.60 for the front hose, but the parts system doesn't tell him if it's braided or not. Is this what you're paying?

"Oooh, we may not be allowed to sell it at the moment sir."

'Squeeze me? Aren't they in business to make money?

Which dealer are you using, so I can let Park west know, so they can contact them if need be.

The bike will have bar raisers soon - Would that cause an issue?

Cheers for the info

Jon

Depends on your height of bar risers. Up to 25mm should be OK with a standard hose although it'll be a bit tight on full lock. I'll check out the situation on the availability of BMW braided hoses and let you know.

Jon:
It appears I've misled you. BMW do a braided front hose for the F650CS Scarver and for the F650GS models with ABS, but not for the standard non-ABS model. Doh!
The standard rubber hose is £30+ as you've been quoted. I've just bought a plain black-covered braided steel front hose from HEL for under £30 including the VAT. Fitting it this week.
If you order from HEL and want a longer hose to to accomodate your bar risers, then add 5mm to the height of your risers and tell Steve at HEL to add that total length to the length of the standard hose.

We were in Hughenden ***at weekend and he'd been foning round too, and pulling his hair out.

HEL lines for Jim & me it is then! :D

Cheers for the info :thumb:

OK, phone Peak Performance and speak to Steve on 01392 255000.

BTW I've bought a Techlusion Chip to fit to the 650 this Thursday as well. I'll let you know the results in case you're tempted.

Simon

A chip you say?

Looks like its HEL for us then Jonny.

Simon please do tell us more when you've tried the chip.

What's that old expression?

Ah yes! "Brakes: the worst enemy of speed!"

:D
