Brake Calliper Clicking ?

Weird one today, at slow speed, you apply the front brake and at a certain amount of 'squeeze' theres a click and the brakes come on slightly harder. Stopped to check it and there is a click coming from the left hand front brake calliper. Cant see anything moving or binding,.... weird!!

I only just got the bike back after having the suspension reset on Friday.... and its back at BMW this evening. Hopefully they can diagnose and fix if theres an issue tomorrow. On a loan S1000XR though, so going to take my frustration out on it this evening!

Just wondered if anyone had similar?

I'd guess one of the disks is getting slightly movable on its bobbins.

Which reminds me: since the brake fluid was changed on mine at the 12K service, I can get the front brake lever back to the bar. Must phone and get them to sort it. Grrr.

Sounds like the disc bobbins have to much free play

It's not the disc floating on the bobbins, its an audible click in the left brake calliper. I too thought it was the bobbins.

It may be the pads are a bit dry and dragging on the anti rattle springs and dirt in the calliper, this may account for the lever travel,,

Turns out to be a seized piston in the left calliper. Removed, freed, lubed and reinstalled.

Unfortunately it was limited to 9K rpm, so that was slightly boring..... BUT the vibrations . The crazy high pitch vibrations in the handlebars put me off completely. They aren't there in the S1000R ?

yep done my head in too, its a shame because its a cracking bike apart from the vibes, happily back on a GSA
