Fancied a Shell Fish Lunch.

Got up as early as could be bothered, cruise control activated and travelled down to Tunnel from Suffolk for departure at civilised time, many other bikers aboard and destined for Assen.

A hop and skip along the Cote d’Opale took us to the walled city of Boulogne-sur-Mer where coffee was taken.

Back on the coastal road to Le Touquet Paris Plage where a fine, fine Fish Lunch was taken at Cafe Perard, just lovely ~ the best in fact.

Ice Cream on the beach before departing for our final destination of Cap Gris Nez via the promenade at Wilmeux.

Tunnel home, back in Blighty for supper at Chez Haldane at 9pm.

325 miles.

Fantastic. Ok I have the Yorkshire Dales on my doorstep but it would be great to get to the continent so easily for a mini (BMW) adventure

Did you pre-book the tunnel or just turn up? How much to travel across? Cheers

Tunnel £15 each way (£12 each way if you want to get up earlier).

We got the 10am (09.50) crossing out and back in UK just after 6pm ~ wasn't even a whistle-stop tour.

Tunnel was very quiet, wouldn't need to book but obviously always safest to do so, can book tickets for tomorrow for example...

I have done pretty much that trip many times and many years ago, when one-day booze cruises were all the rage. Le Touquet and Wilmeux are seriously under-rated places. And probably worth a weekend there

Yep, Le Touquet was very laid back and Wilmeux is now very 'top end' with the Regatta "Lot".

Beautiful part of the world though odd, as negotiating long sweeping D road bends, to see a cruise ship in your mirrors....

I 'just turned' up and it cost me £95 one way. Last minute decision to save time on the way back from France in May this year. Greedy as 3 bikes take up the space of 1 car. Pre-book is the answer

Agreed.

They're such gits.

Anyway, were you to book now for say Monday, it'd be £15 each way by the looks:

Jammy dog having the Chunnel almost on your doorstep. I also live in Yorkshire & as lovely as it is I'd be on that train given every opportunity if I lived further south.

The Le Touquet beach race is well worth a visit and like above is a quick day trip. The frantic scramble to the first corner is a mad!! Normally the race is February time ish!!

amelies frites shack in renescure is worth a visit as theres an excellent cake shop 10 feet from it :D

did there across to ypres the last time 3 years ago - must go again

Great Wee trip, nice pics :thumb :beerjug:

Just come back in a car part same route Le Touquet - chunnel.... very nice indeed

Fruits de mer :drool :thumb

I always get the feeling they would squeeze another bike on the train when ever. France for me is nearer than Devon or Scotland. The solo biker behind us on the train out way Dubai bound via turkey, and Iran Ide bet a Ray Winston 365 he's not home for supper  :augie

BTB nice little ww2 museum at ambleteuse with a great concise film :thumb2 :D
