I've just fitted some auxiliary lights to my 1150GS and somewhere along the line I seem to have created a strange electrical problem!

Symptoms are that when I turn the ignition on, the fuel pump whirrs but the neutral and battery lights stay off. I can start the bike with a bit of a struggle but it runs really roughly. Nothing registers on the speedo or tacho.

If I rev the engine, as the revs get to about 3K, the neutral and battery lights come on, the speedo and tacho start to register and the engine dies.

The problem remains if I disconnect the new lights so it's nothing about their wiring...must have been something I disturbed during fitting.

Any bright sparks who can give me some clues?

Cheers

Jeez Bazzer what have you done?!!!

Start with the obvious, check all the connectors near where you were working, make sure they are not loose or corroded. Check all battery leads are secure. Check for blown fuses.

If no joy check out this link by Andy Malton.

It maybe that you just need to reset the Motronic.

Hope you get it sorted.

Lee.

Ps. Has anyone got a wiring diagram for an 1150GS?

Thanks Lee, I'll give that go tomorrow...too many sherberts to have a go now ;-)

Thank f!*# for that. Funny how two little faults combine together to make one big fault and you don't know where to start.

1) Fuse #1 blown. Caused the lack of neutral & battery lights. Is it just me or are the fuses difficult to check unless the light is perfect?

2) Right had throttle cable unseated at the throttle body. Caused the engine to run like a complete pig and die when revved.

Thanks to Lee for responding...at least someone did!

Cheers & good luck Engerland!

Right hand throttle body

I had a similar problem after fitting my crash bars.
