Advice please.

1966 BSA Bantam 175

Don't have a manual, need to know whether the elevctric are 6 or 12 volt?

Also, any idea where I can get hold of a manual

Cheers

Dave

A very weak 6V with Prince of Darkness headlamp. You can get a 12V conversion

You mean it would be able to turn a 12V alternator

What d'ya mean??!!!

When I was at school a D7 was considered to be the dog's knees!

Come to think, that was two or three years ago!

:D

Check the bulbs already fitted to the bike, it may have been converted to 12v already.

Bantam, one of my first bikes and I was only 12 years old then.

Mine was 6V (nominally), but if you turned on the lights below 30mph there was nowt left for the spark ..... and top speed was about 31mph

Aahhh the memories

I have the mighty D14/4 version. Phenominal drive out of corners. Had a D7 when I was a kid, used to give the lurvly Barbra and Sharon a ride on it across the droves - oh heady days

I also had a D14/4, 1968 vintage, was definitely 6 volt. Good advice to check the bulbs, as 12v conversions are now readily available.

Seem to remember that it chewed 2nd gear regularly. Also remember that you had to take the damn thing to bits to replace the kickstart return spring which busted at regular intervals.

Ahhhh, kickstarts, eh? Those were the days.............
