Looking to get my father a budget desktop PC for Xmas. Anyone know of any good deals out there at the moment? Looking to pay about £400 and it'd mainly be used for eBaying and keeping accounts up-to-date, no hardcore graphics or sound cards required.

Any advice from your PC guys appreciated!

Dell are not cheapest, but probably would fall into your budget and they do offer support which is included for the 1st year and reasonably priced thereafter.

I would go on the Dell website as you can get them for under £400. I have a beast of a Compaq (well it was a few years ago :( used by the geologist at work) and its very expensive to upgrade or fix.

have fun

cheers guys

excellent advice cheers guys, I was reckoning on a Dell as I can configure a basic PC online to suit his requirements! :beerjug:

You could also get a fairish laptop for similar money, since he doesn't need the graphics or sound stuff specially, it saves on space too :)

Dell

also have an outlet store. It sells units that have been cancelled or returned, generally a bit cheaper.

PC World are advertising on the TV a Compaq with DVD writer , LCD screen and 160 GB £399 , i Think ish . :mmmm

Just persuaded my old man to get one of these, and with a 17" flat screen included, it seems more than adequate for his requirements.

They're actually doing one at around £270 with a 15" monitor that would probably do the job.
