Hello fellow tossers,

Now I know from experience the kind of abuse I am about to unleash :mmmm

I have had my Tchibo tarp in its bag for a couple of weeks so had a bash at putting it up, as I had messed about with a new tent last evening.

Feck it's a decent size but ow the bleedin ell do you put it up on your own?? :nenau

Good job my place is secluded , I couldn't stand the shame at my harold Loyd type antics being viewed. :fiddle

I quite liked the setup Mike Prince uses on his blog i.e One half used as a wall/windbreak with the rest roofed over the tent / opening.

I need some elp wiv me erection !!! :D

I await your .... wisdom

T'aint easy but there's a sort of system depending on how I use it.

'Free standing' is the most difficult. I start from the centre and use two guys on each pole to start with just to provide stability. Once there is some tension provided by the corner guys you can reduce the two middle guys down to one.

If I'm using trees, it's secure the Tarp to these first and then work away from them.

If I'm anchoring one end on the ground as you describe, to act as a wind break, then that's the starting point. Again the trick seems to be to keep some tension and that means the guys are used at an angle to maintain the tension. When it's up, I reposition the guys.

It's certainly best to get the Tarp up before positioning the tent.

A few days ago I used a couple of trees and managed to get two tents under it with room for a couple of chairs (the small tent was the servants quarters! :D ).

The pillow question is fully addressed in my next entry but you will have to wait! :P

(I have one entry ready for publishing, and two more to go. Problem is I'm halfway through the second (a long one) but twice during all the writing and adding pictures my connection has dropped out just when I was near the end :spitfire I'm steeling myself to have another go. Here's a trailer just to whet your appetite!)
