Typical, I read previous posts on this subject after I removed the screen to mount my GPS, and did exactly what the posts warned not to do, I dropped one of the dome headed nuts. Looked everywhere and can't find it:spitfire Hoping B&Q will have them. My question however is to do with the threaded spacer, which way round does it go?:o Logic tells me the actual narrow threaded bit (yeh, I know, very technical!) goes through the adjuster and the dome headed nut, when I get it, tightens to the washer end of the spacer. Does that make sense to anyone, and if so, can you help a mechanical numpty out with an explanation.

Cheers,

John

Larger flat side towards the nut.

Just a small hint. Look for the dome headed nut on the front wishbone, rolled down at the back.May require a bit of the bodywork removed to get it out, if it's there.

Done it, found it, right where you said, thanks very much!

Merry Christmas.

John

Actually, the dome self locking nut is not suppose tighten against the threaded spacer at all. It is suppose to set out near the end of the threaded adjuster's shaft so as to prevent you from threading the spacer all the way off during screen adjustment. Or it come all the way off from vibration.

Personally the dome nut is such a PITA (as you found out), and I have my screen all the way off enough, that I deep-sixed the little dome locking nut on both sides long ago.

I have got to say that this forum is amazing!!! How the hell can someone in Wapping help someone in Kent find a lost nut!!!

Well done everyone.

David

Me too!

Next time I lose my nuts I'll ask Wapping !!!!!!

Lost mine ages ago and never found it. Had the instruments off, the screen. the beak etc. Nuffin. Did have a good look round else where too.

I wonder if it's still there somewhere.

Lots of fording and tracks since though so maybe not.

Skip.

It was me that hid it there.

Heh Wapping, I lost a 16mm Snap-On socket a few weeks back when I was fitting an Ilmberger hugger. Trouble is the socket belongs to my son! Any Ideas where it might be (. . . and no, it was not left on the nut).

Relying on you coz I am fed up turning the garage upside down
