You won't find many people describing Hawker Batteries as poo - they have moved the goalposts significantly with these gel jobbies - they're available from 'bins' and brackens and all good bike shops (and no doubt a few crap ones) :D

Agree with jud9e. My 2 year old hawker still cranks over like new even when the bike's been left for a couple of months.
Also better if you do any off road 'coz you cannot break them and it doesn't matter if you turn them upside down.

My sons OEM BMW (car) item died after 18 months. When he complained of bat flattery to the dealer they smirked.

If you don't want to stretch to the cost of a "Hawker" then you could fit a "Varta" from "The Factory Shop" Tel No. 0121 683 1113.

I've recentley bought one for a 250 RS Honda for £20 and a 1100GS one for £32 (both wet ready to go). The last one I had lasted 5 years (3 years longer than the OE one).

They are in Birmingham but will post one (Dry) for £6 in the UK.

I don't know how true this is but I'm told "Varta" and "Yuasa" automotive batteries are infact the same beast, just badged differently. The shop above did used to be on the grounds of the "Yuasa" factory site in Birmingham, hense the name.

Just a thought anyway

Cheers Guys - did a fair bit of research on the Web yesterday those there Hawkers sound just the ticket so one on the way.

I'm afraid I've got to an age where I wimp out in the winter and only go out on the occasional Sunday during Dec, Jan and Feb this really gives the bat a hard time.

Graham.
