Hi guys,

I used to be very happy with the bike's performance.

After year and a half, and 9000 miles... I am experiencing so many quality problems that I am not that happy at all, to the point of not recommending a BMW bike any more. So far, These are my warranty jobs list:

1) Front brake fluid gasket/cap reservoir.
2) Electric Exhaust valve.
3) Rear pads and brakes.
4) Left hand switches.
5) Seat.
6) Circlip (screen)
7) Exhaust pipes corroded

8) This morning...my right leg was literally boiling, quick check and it looks like the exhaust valve is playing games again…

Am I the unlucky one who bought the bike made of all the odd crappy parts? Is anyone else worried about what's going to happen after the 2 years Warranty?

Sorry for bringing some negativity to such a happy forum, but it’s getting my nerves now:mad::mad::mad:

You mean that you haven't had any problems with:-

1) gearbox?
2) clutch?
3) dodgy cheapo handlebar switches?
4) out of spec rear sub-frame?
5) paint wearing through on the frame?
6) cam chain failure?
7) leaking water pump?

I think you've got off rather lightly. How else are BMW to rook you for an extended warranty if there isn't a known list of expensive faults on the bikes? :toungincheek

I do have paint weating through on the frame... but... since BMW doesn't accept my claim... I'm trying to forget it :(

and yes...the coated is gone from half of the screws/bolts...

and yes... I am thinking about becoming a AFC-50 shareholder

and.. I better shut up, and place and order for an Africa twin...

:)

Looking back at old posts BMW Motordad were bringing out a "fix" for all of the above items, as you would expect from a premium dealer.

Jolly good of bmw to repair under warranty all the faults that shouldn't have been there or occurred in the first place on an expensive motorcycle
