This is an aside to a post I put in "travel". Has anyone replaced a headlight bulb with one of the bluey, whitey, lighty ones ? The ones that burn your retinors. I'm sure someone must have. Any recommendations.....F

Sounds to me like you are talking about HID units. :nenau

Do a search and you will find more than info on the subject, but I dare say that someone will be along quite soon to enlighten you further:augie

Do a search for HID posts made by a member called Les Wassall ( that his user name too). Or send him a PM.

Les can tell you everything you need to know about HIDS for the 12 and he is also a short distance from you in Congleton:thumb2

I have been using the 'phillips extreme' bulbs since i got the Gs last year. Great improvement on the original bulbs and from my local motorist shop they are alot cheaper than from NippyNormans.

Must upgrade to Hids at some time though.

Steve

Are you sure the OP doesn't mean something like the Philips extreme bulbs as advertised in Nippy Normans bulbs section?

Could be, but the fact that referance was made to the burning of retinors, would suggest HIDs to me.:nenau

IMHO while most after market bulbs, PIAA, Phillips etc, are indeed very bright, I would not class them as retinor burners.

I replaced both main and dip bulbs with Halfords superbright items (bogof at the time I bought them, and I work for them as well). Usefull improvement but still not a patch on the Triumph

I went with 35 watt HID (6000K) on low beam & Philips Xtreme for high beam of which I am well pleased.....
I "personally" struggle with HID switching on high beam (call me a purist,) hence my decision not to go that route.....:rob
