Can anyone help? I have a 2010 GSA. I have now only done 900 miles. When I ride into my garage, up a bit of a slope; or through slow traffic, I can smell burning clutch.

I am not slipping the clutch, just riding normally.

I have spoken to my local BMW dealer and they advised me it's all part of the running in.

Not that I don't trust main dealers...but I don't always think they tell the truth!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The dry clutch on the GS/GSA can smell when wearing in, wait until you try off-roading, the smell of a slipping clutch is pretty bad.

Also check your clutch lever isn't fouling inside the handguard and causing a bit of accidental clutch slip.

Fab, I feel a little happier now. Thanks for the reply.

I do not thing that what you describe is unusual for a GS bike. I usually get the smell when starting from stop at high inclinations. The smell goes away very soon.
