Hi there people

At last I can afford a 1200GS! :D

It'll be a used one.

What should I check when I'm looking at bikes? Are there any known problems?

Is there anywhere where these might be listed?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I would guess alot would depend on what price range you are looking in, if you end up having the budget to buy an 04-05 1200, i would buy a later 1150 instead:hide 1200's of that era being a bit of a lottery

After that the world is your oyster, get the best bike you can for the money the more bling the better:thumb

There might be a thread on here with some of the usual issues....

If there's a BMW top box check for cracks.

Check all recall work carried out. Esp. BATTERY (fume, fume, fume)

Check latest "software updates"

Check for corrosion behind black plate at front of engine

Check the side panels for cracks - known to disconnect at speed.

Put on sidestand and see if back wheel moves from side to side (it shouldn't)

ask what was fixed under warranty. Fuel pump relay? Clutch(es)? Gearbox(es)?

Make sure you get a warranty.....

Take it on a decent test ride - a good few hours.

good hunting!
:)
