Unlike my name, I actually don't have a gs. However, I would like one. I am not sure why, more than anything I simply want a bike and doing something vaguely trail like. The latter only because I have never tried it.

However, given my very tentative budget of around £2500 it looks like I can afford nothing. Most of the prices on mcn, and biketrader seem to be £4k+.

Is there any hope of me getting anything in the next few months around my budget or will I have to wait till next year?

thanks

Even in a year i don't think prices will drop that far - motors tend to have a big initial drop off then slowly as per big service intervals.

If you're prepared to wait a year then i presume this is a want not a need type of purchase?

You can probably pick up an F650GS single but i'm guessing that's not what you're asking...

I'm sure someone will be along in a minute to suggest a better option!

Best of luck whatever you decide on,

S

you can get a nice 1100 GS for £2500 and there a great bike . cant see you getting even a rough high miler for that. maybe £3k if it very rough but then its often a false economy. you'll be spending money getting it half decent.
650 v strom or 650 versy are both viable alternatives if you can't afford one yet, and they're very reliable :thumb

I may well be selling my 650gs in a month or so, was going to be looking at around 2,500.

Mine has 38k on at the moment, no ABS and will be striped of most farkles, can send you more details if you like?

Jeeze will you stop lowering the brand :D

it's too cheap, you must have had at least a million PM's,

remember you are not a charity :fiddle

Dont do the old used car sales mans trick and tell them what you want for it, start high and then go low, at least play hard to get, you will have every tosser and non tosser for miles dry humping your leg.

:rob and dont go blaming anyone but your self when your arm gets snapped off in the for sale section.

you and I know really know it's worth millions :nenau, but good luck whith the sale :aidan and roll on the 12 :D :thumb

Hi Dave drop me an email at patelsam at hotmail.com when you fancy a chat.

The reason I don't fancy the larger bikes is because I will mostly use it in London.

And it's more of a want than need as my triumph ate its own gearbox and had to.sell it to the dealer as the cost of repair, upwards of £ 1400 was too much.

I.was ready to pack it all in and given the state of my life at the moment I miss riding.

Sorry to hear that your triumph went and that your in hard times at the moment.

I shall email you a few pics and let you know what the bike will come with, dependent on price.

Does all depend on me finding a 12GS in my budget. That could be a few weeks or a few months .

Cheers, :)

triumph

I loved that bike it was a joy to ride and my first non Japanese bike. Nut having issues every 9 months was a hassle and then the gearbox going was the final straw.

I.am in no hurry as in theory I should start cycling again and attempt to get healthier. I look forward to the pics.

There is nothing worse than an unreliable bike, really can ruin your bike riding mojo!

I have sent you an email, I was ideally thinking of selling it for £2900ish de-farkled or £3500 but Im sure we can sort a deal out that we are both happy with.

Sorry not on here all the time to reply quickly, my personal opinion is.... :blast

We all know something is worth what someone is willing to pay and selling can be a tricky thing, I realise your at 38K miles but micky is heading towards 100k with a similar engine.

All the F owners know how sweet and smooth this engine is for performance and economy. ;) ;)

Depending on the condition, assuming stunning (good - fair) not broken or bashed, I would stab at more than 3k but less than 4k on the dealers forcourt who knows what :nenau a in the middle stab would be £3,499 & 99p

smythson is right you just do not see them for 2.5k Samsgs knows this from his searches :nenau
even F650 singles are advertised for more than 2.5K

But other than Bike trader, MCN, fleebay, gumtree and the like there is the better and best place, the for sale section here It's amazeballs I think more read through it than we realise, being the place where you can get lots of pictures honest facts, pm's are pinged around and often a deal is struck with secure money. If your going to give away a bargain :augie :nenau

But for this there is a £12.00 fee, which is small beans for the fantastic deals, here I might suggest starting at a less of a figure you know special tosser rates and if I had to go under three big ones it would be £2,999 & 99p

In the for sale section with lots of pictures is a good time of the year for sales, dont forget spring has sprung,
the grass has ris, It's where all the start of season bike buyers is. (& before mentioned humpers :D :D)

It's interestin to me as I ride the very same, still on my F650 (but I need to get out more :D :D a euro tripo is in the wind) I have added so much personalising it for my needs and tastes, more than 3.5k it does all that I want and more :thumb But if I Had to sell it and had no bike for a period then went looking for another, it would be a 12 :thumb :D (and I would start in the for sale section here)

If the superior for sale and wanted section failed to sell then the above mentioned non ukgser inferior ones :D

One day  :green gri

what ever you do all the best :beerjug:

Wise words, I think I shall start at £2,999 de farkled and see what happens!

Does all depend on the right 12GS coming up so we shall have to see what comes up in the next few months.

Thanks for the advice! Off to Austria this year, both bikes will be great what ever I end up on! :beerjug:
