Plan to buy a roadcrafter from Aerostich this week, I have read some of the previous posts from a search of this site and I have completed the sizing page on the Aerostich website.
Do the suits come out on the large size from the measurements submitted and would you recommend any of the options.ie hip protection or back protection
I have a 46" chest, 39" waist and 31 inside leg, 96Kgs 5'11" tall so probably a fairly standard middle aged tosser shape.:nenau
Any comments on the above gratefully received.
Thanks

I completed their fitting guide (on the website) and relied on that. All came out OK!

Didn't go for hip and back additional protection, but the quality of the elbow/knee/shoulders makes me wish I had.

I think mine may have shrunk with a few washes over the past couple of years - I've got a bit smaller but the suit doesn't seem any bigger on me. Havign said that, there is an element of magic about them - plenty big enough to fit loads of layers under it when its chilly, yet not too big and flappy when wearing little underneath in hot weather.

What colour will you go for?

I'd personally go with the recommendations you get from completing the sizing chart, out of interest what did they recommend in thir reply?

Would definetly recommend the back protector and hip armour, can't have enough protection and when I ordered my last 2 piece Roadcrafter I went for both and took the opportunity to get the hip armour for Ms Cheek's suit.

Did not go with any of the other options although I know a few of the guys like the map pockets.

I rather like the standard suit with grey fabric and black ballistics, but then again I like the grey suit with hi viz ballistics.
I am waiting for the sizing page to send me a reply on monday as they do not operate at the weekend.

Roadcrafter Update

Well, it was with some trepidation that picked up the parcel with my custom made Roadcrafter inside from the post office today I used the advice given from this forum to help with the sizing, the result is an almost perfect fit.
I tried the sizing program on the web site which gave me a 46 regular with 1 inch taken off the leg, so I rang the people of Aerostich and explained my concerns, in particular that I did not want a suit going back and forth across the Atlantic to get the sizing right. The response to this was they asked me to sit on the bike and get someone to measure my joints to establish my limb lengths, with this information they changed there recommendation to a 48 inch suit with 1 inch taken of the arms above and below the elbow and 2 inches taken off above and below the knee.
The total cost came to $1020 including a pair of gloves and full armour for the suit, postage and insurance, with £182 to pay for VAT and Customs and excise ( I thought this was the same as VAT?)
So all in all a good result, just need to try it riding.
