I'm taking a look at a 650 Dakar, for a mate of mine who's thinking of buying. It's a 2006 model, with approx 6,000 miles on it. Apparently it's had full dealer servicing.

What bits should I be kicking, shaking and prodding, to see if it's a good 'un?

Are there any particular weak spots to look out for?

Also, I've see a cucumber I'm thinking of buying. It's green, 7", nicely curved and in a well known supermarket. Is it the right one?

You'll get a better response in the 650 and 450 singles area I would think. The Dakar predates the 650 twin :thumb

I knew that, of course I did, why wouldn't I have? I placed it in here because I do things differently, I'm a beatnik. I also placed it in the other section, but very cleverly with different stats. No one will know it's been duplicated. I should have been a Bond baddie.

Check out the chain gang f650 website or www.f650.co.uk for more advice. The 650 singles are pretty bullet proof, check head bearings for one though and pitted forks.
