Puzzling one this....

Got an autocom fitted to the new 1100 GS... the same unit and helmet bits as I've used on other bikes... the helmet bits include the dongle for speed sensing , as it turns the volume up as the noise increases.

Anyway, great to around 70 mph, then I get a 'distortion' type noise in the speakers ... never happened before.....

Does this point to a new head set , is it likely to be the speakers or something to do with the dongle for detecting wind noise? am I missing something.... Can't see how changing the bike would cause it to happen....

Possibly a wiring run issue? Try unplugging the inputs to try and nail down the source.

Does the new bike have HID lighting?

No HID lighting..... no problems up to around 70 mph.. then I notice it... playing music through a Zumo 660 which is the same unit I've used on other bikes, with the same other bits, with no problems ;)

Time to change the bike then

Could it be where you've got the airflow noise pick-up is picking up some other noise as well? So trying the intercom without it might be an idea.

It was tucked into the helmet lining, I've fetched it out so its dangling out the back... no difference :(

You need a ground loop isolator. Eg eBay item 280615811526

It goes between your Zumo (audio out) and your Autocom (audio in).

Greg

If you want to be sure before you buy, disconnect the power supply from your Zumo and run it on its battery. You'll find no buzzing noise.

Bryn if that fails, I've got a box of assorted filtery type things from my 5 pin autocom (pro7 IIRC)

If you do a bit of a poke about and can come up with a piccy of the right one, I'll see if I have one and pop it in the post to you :thumb
