Just got back from a brilliant day at C adwel on the bmw road skills course, half day course started with a quick briefing then on to the track. 1st session following the instructer round to get a feel of the track, correct lines etc. Entry, apex, exit cones all in place to make it easier to get the lines right. 2nd session riding without using brakes (alot easier than it sounds). Short break and practicing slow speed manovers then back on main track for further practice, what an absolute hoot! Instructer managed to get cylinder head covers down on his RS1100 ,looked mega cool! Managed to get my GS1150 further over than i've ever managed before and really improved my cornering skills. Our instructer Flip top bloke. All in all an excelent day! Loads of different bikes from LT1200 with all the trimmings to R850r etc. 3 of us attended the course and we all thoroughly enjoyed it and feel we got alot of benefit from it.

Cheers George

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't seen any comments on the board about the road skills course and i had hoped to make todays event so it's encouraging to know it was good. Was it value for money though, as i thought it seemed a bit steep just for a few hours ?? Still prepared to go (eventually) as i'm a bit nervous about 'thrashing' my bike on the road now due to the number of points i have residing on my licence currently, so a track has got to be a better bet.

Ultimately hoping to do the off-road course as that's more up my 'street' and does seem much better value for money (loan bikes, two days, etc). Still interested in the road skills one though. Any decent pictures then - ie valve covers being ground down through corners??

yes, it was expensive but well worth it, I did get a lot out of the day and my group had one instructor to two people. I did have reservations about using our own bikes, but they were unfounded, the GS was absolutely brilliant on this track, and I would reccomend it to anyone, especially if its the first time on the track, as it was really well organised. I have also done the off road skills, which I got a lot out off and really enjoyed. It really improved my confidence , next stop wheelie school!!

Did this at Cadwell last year, I and others thought it was poor value for money, didn't learn much and it was all over before we got started or so it seemed. It's a long way to come from Taunton.
I'd look for something closer to home. As for the off road course, now were talking real value. Just do it.

sounds like you had a top time george - I shall expect to see all this put into practice the next time we ride together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
