I've got a little trip planned for this year & I'm going to spend a few weeks bumbling around your splendid land.

The family (12 of us) have booked a basecamp here but I'll only be popping in on the 1st & last day, the rest of the time the family will be staying here & I'll be riding, camping.

Having ridden the West quite a few times I'm OK there, I know where to head for the stunning views etc.

This year I plan to do a clockwise route so what I'm asking for here is a recommendation for campsites around the Cairngorms, failing that is there anywhere in the Grampian region you'd recommend with an emphasis on photo opportunties & I'd like to book the good weather now please.

That'll do, thanks! :thumb2

I'll plot that onto Mapsource & that'll complete my clockwise trip with an average of around 100 miles per stop-off.

There is the Glenmore Forestry commision site at Loch Morlich which is further out from Aviemore than Rothiemurchus.

If you want to go a bit further afield then the site at Grantown-on-spey, 14 miles north of aviemore www.caravanscotland.com

I have used Glenmore for both the tent and the caravan although the last time I was there was three years ago. It was a totally disorganised set up that week, which was not normal but stopped me from returning.

The site at Grantown was recommended to me and is one off the best and cleanest I have used, although it was with the caravan. Its only about 1/2 mile at most into the village centre.

Both Glenmore and Rothiemurchus, which I have not stayed at, are about 5 miles+ out from aviemore.

Also if you are a fan of clootie dumpling you should visit the Heather Centre www.heathercentre.com

Thanks for those suggestions, I've added them to 'my favourites' & I'll view them & plot them onto Mapsource when I get some time.

Keep all suggestions coming. :thumb2

Thank again.

Glenmore is the campsite name, there's no village. Just follow the road from Aviemore towards the cairngorm chairlift and the campsite is on the right. I've looked at mapsource and its basically on th right hand side of Loch Morlich as you look at the map.
