so how quick is the top box to remove ????
do you have to undo the bolts on the rack ????each time

Yes you have to remove the Bolts each time.
There are 4 hex heads , holding it in place.
2 thru to the sub frame , two to the box.

Civil.. I understand the lid isnt hinged... can it be? It'd save having to put it down every time you go in the box..
Also is there a built in lock available ? ( just thinking for ease of use)

I can have one made with a hinge ,
But for shere ease of use i dont normally use hinges.
The Lid of the Box actually sits down on a lip .
This ensures , 1 that it sits in place properly , it aids waterproofing. This is a Pannier , but the top box lid is the same.

Dimensions. for the Top box you see here:
18" long
11" Wide
9" High to lip/lid interface.
Powder coating is also a Top Box option , Now.
They are also double welded, that means welded outside and
inside for strength.

Civil the dimensions you give don't look like the top box pictured
18" long
11" Wide
9" High to lip/lid interface
it' looks taller than it does wide
have you made one to fit a helmet?
that would be handy for some i would have thought
and you should while you at it give the opening between the lips on the box so you know the maximum size you can fit inside it.

This is just my preferance for a top Box.
With so many differing needs in Top Box usage you tell me what size you want , i make it .
But in Sayin that "As you Know" it costs
for all them wee fanciful add ons
Did i mention your "Braces" ?.

What way you want it.
Base Box with flat lid and handels. 3.2KG
Its slightly heavier with the Curved lid.
A Wee document compartment like on the Panniers + .75KG
Powder coating adds weight as well , but not much.
This is using 2-3mm aluminium , i can have it made substantially
lighter using lighter material , but thats a compromise on strength.
In complete honesty i dont think there is any need for a double
weld on the top box as it is not stress bearing, But again its a
compromise.
Like i say a Top box is a Personal preferance thing
