Call of duty 2 " please insert correct disc "

When I load Call of duty 2, nothing happens on single player mode, just a pop-up saying insert correct disc ( the disc is in the correct drive and it's a genuine disc ). Multi-player works ok. Any ideas please ?

Have a look at the publishers website to see if anyone else has had the same problem and they have posted a fix/patch for it.

Do you have 2 optical drives?

Not sure what an optical drive is. The old COD worked fine, but I have since downloaded the new direct x and radeon catalyst.

Do you have any cd emulation software running, such as Alcohol120% of Daemon Tools? If so, it needs to be disabled.

Thanks for all the help. I think I may have found the problem. I tried all the advice on the link. When I insert a music CD, it won't play either. Is there a way to sort this out with Windows media player ?. Also, SYSTRAY isn't in my list of applications after pressing ctrl, alt, delete
