My missus is finally taking the plunge to go for a bike after agreeing to do some touring in france for April.

Shes quite a short arse, with a 27inch inside leg, and even with the low seat and lowered suspension option is still tippy toes.

My question however is related to availability. If we factory order a low/low bike we wont get delivery until March, which I feel doesnt leave much time to get used to the bike, run in etc for the trip into europe. Getting a low seat/standard bike with the preload wound all the way off, forks dropped thru yokes etc may work - but what about when loaded with kit?

Can anyone lend some advice?

Low bike or standard bike with no preload?

Can you recommend other bikes 650GS'ish, that might be more suitable? Seat reupholsters to sculpt the seat more etc?

Thanks in advance.

I can't really lend any advice... but there is a clean looking lowered GS for sale on the f650.co.uk site.

Hope that helps

Has it got to be a GS? why not have a look at the scarver? I believe they tend to be lower to the floor than the GS range.

A low seat from BMW for the Scarver and for the GS gives the same high; 750mm.
But I believe the factory lowered GS are lower, the lowest F650 I have seen.

... but the Scarver has a belt, you know! :thumb

Kawasaki Eliminator are low (kardan, 4-in-line-engine).
And I have seen a wery low Ducati (chain), lowered buy the owner.

Damn it looks like the site is a bit sluggish in letting me register - can someone post onto that thread (if already registered) and let them know my intentions by pasting this threads' URL please?

Cheers,

I'm not an expert but it does seem to have all options checked and it looks v clean!

I sent him a PM for you - You'll need to register on one of the sites so that you can get in touch over PM or broadcast your email...

looks good for 3k an o4 bike.
not many lowered bikes for sale.matron and reggie used to have the lowered versions.
c

or still check out lowering the standard gs.you could use koubalinks, the lowering dogbones.

I bought Matrons factory lowered F650GS and still found I was on tip toes....(Marion being slightly taller than me....I'm 5ft 1)...so I invested in a pair of Daytona 'Ladystar' motorcycle boots, which made all the difference....:)...not cheap at about £260...but IMO, one of the best make of boots out there for warmth, waterproofing, etc....in fact I feel tall wearing them...they put all of about 2inches on my height....which in my case, I'm grateful for all I get!!..:):D

I dont mind paying £12 or whatever it is, but i'd like to know what the money is spent on before shelling out.

Keeping this site running!!
the "other" sites limit what you can do until they get your cash, here you have almost total access of all posts you just can't PM or post ad's unless you pay:rolleyes:
I'm the tightest GIT in the universe and I paid my £12 towards the upkeep of this place :)
