Best one has to have been the first 80G/S. £1850 for an ex demo. A rare sight on the roads then.
Did Europe a couple of times on it.
18" rear allowed the fitting of trials tyres, and its small R65 frame meant it was easier off road.
The second G/S occasionally had a trials chair attached - so good memorys of that one. Lots of London commuting 'tatified' it though.
The 100GS was a bit of a workhorse. 500 miles a week commuting, with Sundays on the dirt. Paralever shaft packed in tho, and I could never get the gearbox seal to ........seal.
The Dakar was a pleasant return to a
lighter off road bike. Didn't like the liquid cooling or fuel inj - unnecessarily complicated for the type of bike it is? Felt similar to the G/S - power and weight, but not as balanced off road.
Still hoping the Adv will grow on me. Not impressed by the fuel inj, and it doesn't seem to take the knocks I give it very well.
My HP2 seems all right, plenty of power, although it has....................
