Guys,

Having decided I'm buying a System 6 I popped into my local dealer for a fitting today. Sods law - my head thinks it wants to be somewhere between two sizes:blast, but I think I've settled on the size. It is a very firm (but not unduly tight) fit and I'd like comments on how other people have found they've settled down?

The only area of concern I had was on the forehead where I think just a small amount of 'give' will make it very comfortable. Around the forehead the fit is very firm - far less padding between the polystyrene inner shell and my forehead.

I don't want to make an expensive mistake! What are people's experiences of these helmets bedding in, and in particular, across the forehead?

Hi Andy,

I bought my system 6 about 4 weeks ago. i was in the same boat as you, size 60 too sloppy, 58 tight on the forehead.

I decided to risk the 58 thinking it would relax but retain good sound insulation with being a snug fit. I was right, to begin with it was putting pressure on the forehead and I wondered if I had made the wrong decision. It has now relaxed and is a perfect fit, but nice and snug around the ears giving a quiet ride.

Good points i find are:

The upper vents work really well to such a degree i have to close them as it sometimes lets too much draft in.

The visor has a really good wide angle view and doesnt mist up even in heavy rain.

The flip mechanism is really easy once used to it and teh inner visor is just the right tint. It is a nice compact helmet as well

Watch out for:

The upper vent will allow water in if left open in the rain which takes an age to dry out, and the water seems to settle on the inner visor.

The outer visor takes time to bed in and will require extra effort to snap it shut in the early days.

The chin piece does sit quite close and I had to do away with the chin draft guard.

Hope this helps

Simon

Simon,

Fab comments - many thanks.:thumb

I think I've decided to try the slightly tighter fit but the comfort of knowing other people's experience could still swing it one way or the other.

Had mine for about 9 weeks now, used to wear Arai, this is the quietest helmet I've owned, comfortable and as a speccy get with the built in sun visor no need to mess about with trying to mess about with sunglasses etc. :thumb2

Hi
I was in BMW Mottorradddddd in Glasgow yesterday trying them on. Shop had to order 61-63 in for me. So I'll try it in the first week of '10.
Guy said the price was going up £50 soon.??? I'm trying to remember what the price was now. £?25 going up to £?75 soon. Trouble is I can't remember what the hundred figure was.:blast
So what is the best price for these helmets?
I do like the sun visor.
I've been wearing Arai for years now so this is a bit of a step for me. Did seem very light though.

Mine was £300 from Pidcocks with a free visor spray (£3.99), that was as low as they would go.

I too was told they were underpriced and going up in the new year plus the extra VAT to pay aswell. Probally be nearer £400 soon. Best be quick!

PS the helmer bag that comes with it is worth having as well.

My understanding is that the new VAT rate will NOT apply to safety helmets.
