I Can Sing Like Calum Kennedy jokes aside, I've just watched a gem of a wee tribute to Calum on BBC2. He really had a great voice and during my childhood years, he (and Andy Stewart) was the variety face of Scotland, especially at New Year (albeit I thought they were shite then ;) Just goes to show what kids know, eh?)

Hearing Calum singing the Dark Isle just now reminded me of how great his voice could sound. Mind you, you don't win the Mod for nowt I suppose.

I bet after reading this, G.C. gets out his old Calum Kennedy LP's. :thumb

The show reminded me of an afternoon TV show I saw several years ago. It was about a Highland or Island area radio show where the iconic DJ (a real character) also worked, if I remember correctly as the local Post Master or something. He and his show were almost legendary and had real cult status. Anyone know which DJ/radio station this might have been?

Oh, and I haven't been smoking funny fags :thumb

For all my eclectic taste in music I canna cope with Calum.

A mate of mine lived with one of his daughters for several years though, and
I believe Calum used to through a damn good party.
He was partial to a dram or three was Calum :D

I suppose you used to watch Bothy Nichts as well

Didn't mind Calum in past years but had all Andy Stewarts records (45's) and enjoyed him on the White Heather Club or Show.
Good topic Ronno. How much of the wet stuff was consumed while watching the show?

Just how old do you think I am FFS !
I remember the White Heather stuff on the Telly at Hogmanay, that’s when all the Callaichs and Bottochs (sp?) would get around the telly and we could sneak into the kitchen where the drink was stashed and help ourselves to some Barley wine :ymca and listen to some Quo Vadis (as my maw cried them!)
Sorry, No. Andy Stuart with his tartan trews and Calum Kennedy, “I don’t like that bastard anyway,” never did anything for me except made me embarrassed to be Scottish.
Now that lass in the pipe band I was telling you about, ;) Yon kilt can get a tad itchy  but that’s another story……….

ah dinnae mind o' Andy wae trews on. He a'ways had a kilt on tae ma' mind.
An yer as auld as ye feel, an we'll no gang intae the ither wae tae feel young young man!
Aye yon chap had a name for enjoyin' a dram richt enough (sensible chap).
