Recently the RH tensioner has started to clatter on start up.

Usually goes quiet within a few sec's

Today it stayed clattery until i blipped the throttle a few times.

Now i think it may be the source of my clattter when i'm riding.

Any ideas how you check here ok? are there uprated ones that can be fitted?

I know there's one on each side

Park the bike overnight leaning to the right. If the cam chain is less noisy you'll know its a tensioner issue. But TBH they all do it and its not really a big deal. They can also sound like big end knock when the idle stepper motors are sticking or secondary coils are failing.

I've recently changed by engine oil to fully synthetic Motul 7100 20w-50 which has improved the sound of the engine a lot. I change the oil pretty regularly anyway and moving from the semi-synthetic Motul 5100 10w-40 to the new stuff has made a really noticeable difference to the engine noise.
