I have one of those little alloy tripod stools which is no hassle or weight. I even cut a few inches off the legs so it works inside the tent shelter.

Just wondering if there are other light weight options though for a more relaxed item.

I really wouldn't bother unless it was quick and simple. Thought about a chair kit for my thermarest but wonder it I would be arsed to set it up plus sit on the floor.

I do have a small flip-up type chair with a back on it. That weighs nothing but find it fiddly to strap on the bike even though its little bigger than the topbox lid.

Noticed lots of the fold up ones in ASDA today but they are well heavy.

Decathlon sell some short folding camping chairs - a collapsed one fits neatly along the top of a pannier.

I wonder where you got that idea :augie

Decathlon do a folding table to match as well - not brilliant, but it's small and light and worth considering.

Doin' well mate.

I'm planning to do the hogroast alright - looks like it should be a big bash with lots of luvverly motors along as well. Are you going to come and take that beastie of yours for a good play on the Plains?

PS - apart from hijacking the tread, that's the right link on the Decathlon site, and it's the Low Chair as ZedZed said :)

decathlon chair - weight = 2kg

My tent is only 2.2kg. What I need is that chair made of titanium :mmmm

Mermoto :eyesdown
(Likes it superlight and stealthy to make up for his fat a**)

Hear what you are saying, not sure why noboby is selling alloy ones - sure they could make them strong enough:confused:

It is the weight that puts me off a better chair but a chair is handy. The ones they sell in supermarkets are crazy heavy

I've seen alloy ones in a number of camping shops - quite large diameter tubing, but much lighter than the cheap steel chairs. Only trouble is - they don't fold up very small, but could strap down on top of luggage without too many problems.

Camping chair? Thats what your Zega boxes are for. if you have 2 panniers and top box, you also have to seats and a table.:augie

1 vote here for the thermarest chair kits. Been using the same ones for about 15yrs. Very comfy and keep yer arse warm and yer feet pointing to the fire and they rollup inside your matress :thumb2

Just thought they might be a faff, and not ideal in a drizzle when knocking up some food??

Probably great for doing any lengthy chilling in the sun/evening.

I know a stool can be a grab, use and leave job - no harm if left outside or knicked.

Yes they are a bit of a faff but IMHO totally worth it. One thing you seriously miss when camping proper, that you don't notice till it's gone, is back support. After a long days ride or whatever to be able to sit down and rest you back with a glass of the local is heaven! Stools or panniers just can't give you that. Makes a big difference to the camping experience :thumb2 2p
