We use the municipal sites occasionally if the hair dryer/straighteners are required. Most of the time we’re on Aires and some do have hook up but many don’t.
They’re usually well maintained and often have laundry facilities. There’s a great municipal site in Buis les Baronnies in Provence which we’ve used a couple of times.

I’ve used plenty of municipal sites in the past.
Some of them are really nice and quiet too.
