OK, here goes, me and one or two off here are planning a trip to the Alps (Austria, Switzerland, and Italy)
Departing from the Tunnel 0800 (ish) Saturday 29th May returning 1200(ish) Sunday 6th June (Whitsun week)
Planning to take in some stunning alpine passes, simple living whilst Camping all the way (unless weather is very bad) and cooking most meals. We are planning to avoid toll roads (except grobgloker pass Austria) but will be doing some motorway /auto route with a couple of 400+ mile days one on the way out and another on the return journey.
We will be taking in some culture, so not riding all the time, although the overall trip will be approximately 2.5k. Good maps or sat nav would be preferable as it saves stoping all the time, as meeting points will be agreed on before setting off (and phone to txt on).
At the moment routes are still being planned but as the date is getting close I thought I would post it as the trip date is set.
At the moment a rough plan is: France/belgum/germany to Baden Baden ride the famous B500 then visit Dachau concentration camp
. Leave Germany via the Bavarian Alps, maybe see Neuschwenstein Castle (one in chitty chitty bang bang). Cross Austria, maybe visit Europe’s largest waterfall, ride the Grogloker Pass. Head into Italy, on mountain roads, possibly to Lake Guarder. Head North via the Stelvio Pass into Switzerland. Then home via German autobahn or French national roads depending on time left.
Having said all that… you know what they say about the best laid plans.
