Anyone on the island offer me some assistance in suggesting a good campground with reasonable facilities? Would prefer Douglas area with see views but that's probably asking too much but not really that bothered so long as it has showers AND electric hook-ups etc.

I've look on the IOM tourist website but most don't have pictures of site and having toured the States and Canada for 12 months in an RV I don't want anymore of those sort of surprises. I did notice a number of football/rugby clubs advertising as campgrounds but I can only imagine they are very basic.

I am coming over on the 14th for a week to see some family in Ramsey and visit some of my old haunts so any quick advice would be most appreciated as I need to book the ferry soon.

I've been doing some sums and the cost of taking the car and B&Bing is too high compared to a campervan and campground (IOM Steam Racket has changed in my time away then  ) Will try and bring the bike if I can get hold of a trailer.

Can anyone guarantee me some decent weather as well as I then won't need to bring the camper...

Many thanks for any assistance.

Wouldn't mind meeting up with a few of you for a few :beerjug:  if there is a meet-up arranged somewhere.

Thanks again

Hi Steve

I camped there last in 2000, at a site just above Signpost Corner on the left going out of Douglas. It was fine, although you had to get there early for a level pitch. I've tried to find it on a regular internet map/tourist site but (IMHO) they're all shite. Easy drunken stumbling distance of town :thumb2 .

Regards, Mick :beerjug:

There's a great one at Peel, next to the swimming pool.
It's got everything you need, I stayed there for TT week.

I prefer Peel to Douglas though, great sunsets etc.

stayed here the last two TTs - creaks a bit under the number of people at the Centennial TT but was brilliant the time before.

Steve

I have an empty house which you are welcome to stay in for nowt. I even have mains electricity and running water too! You can also use the washing machine and therefore can travel light and just bring the bike!

The house is a bit of a tip but if you're lucky I might push a hoover around just for you.

I live in Ramsey so it isn't Douglas and there is no sea view. I can offer off road parking though so the bike should be safe enough.

Drop me a pm if you're interested.

Dave
