Last week , out of the blue, a supplier for a company I do some sales work for call me up and says that I have won a weekend trip skiing in Chamonix because of a decent order I put their way

I'm broke at the mo' so how much is this really gonna cost me ?............"nothing", he says , "just bring some beer money "

Bloody brilliant , last weekend in Feb , even better that's my birthday . Fekkin result.:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1

Only problem is I dont ski but I'm willing to give it a go. Howver, I dont have any gear and dont intend on taking it up as a hobby so am very reluctant to buy any , especially for just 2 days use and probably short days at that. I've managed to get a suitable jacket BUT I really need some sort of ski trousers. I can hire ski's and boots but not clothing.

Has anybody local got anything that I can borrow ?? Please :bow

I take a size 36" waist in jeans and size 31 to 32" inseam so they need to be at least that big . Anybody local help :nenau

Cheers,

ian

Not in your neck of the woods but try Aldi/Lidl, they were doing ski clothing a few weeks ago for around £40 a suit.

Wear yir bike trousers:thumb2

I only own a pair of BMW summers trousers and my aerostich pants which won't go over the ski boots and TBH they are a bit tight now as they've shrunk :toungincheek

Noooo, ya chunky bugger. :D

I'm positively waif like compared to some of 'em in here :upyou

May be able to help.

Give me a phone 0790 337 2974.

If I remember your a bit of a short a**e so may be too long for you, but the wifes will probably fit :D

What ever you get make sure you wear thermals underneath ! I was there last week and it was -15 on top and with a bit off wind its f***in cold . Take lots of beer money 2.40 euros for half a larger Or buy a pack of stubbys from spar , casino or super u best bar is Chambre neuf oppisite train station or The Pub on the main street . Cheapest burger is Poco Loco on the main street smallest burger bar in town

I used to be a ski guide in the 3 valleys and if you're strappo I say use your existing bike pants. It can get very warm as we head towards march and if you're a noob at skiing the stressing and straining will mean you'll likely roast inside your gear. Think off-roading on the bike. If you think you'll be cold just get some M&S long Johns.

TK Maxx do cheap ski pants. You can pick them up for £15 and they are often decent brands that are either out of season or have a minor fault.

I for one will be wearing my bike gear next time I go skiing. It's not such a mad idea as the KLIM gear started out as skiddo, ATV gear anyway. :thumb2

Thanks for all the replies

If you can't borrow, Google is your friend ...

Thanks for that I couldnt find anywhere local to hire and I'm told they cant hire at the resort. Looking at the cost of hiring the pants , paying for delivery and paying to post 'em back it would be cheaper to buy a cheap pair.

Ian you're a disgrace as a GS'er... buy a big carry-out and do a lot of drinking....a lot safer than you trying to ski:D

re ski wear

If you are only going for two days your bike gear will be fine! If you don't fancy that, jeans with waterproof trousers on top will be ok! Take sunglasses, sun cream, gloves, a hat, camera, and just incase some paracetamol and radox for the bath, you might end up using muscles you haven't used before. If you can afford the time a lesson at Chill factore in Manchester will mean you can spend more time skiing in Chamonix and less time standing around looking like a tosser, trust me an hour or two here will make your experience over there much more pleasant, especially if you have never skied before. The other thing you need to take is your sense of humour. Have a great time, lets see the pix when you return. :beerjug:
