After re cycling the funds from the sale of my old 883 Speed Triple

I now have Penguins G650X Country purchased in early October from Gaget both members of this parish.

She is an 07 in Black and Grey and came with 6500miles and abs. Its in good unbashed nick.

I bought it as a winter hack and for some solo travels exploring around my local back lanes.

Im keeping my tidy 03 1150gs for two up touring.and distance work

We have been out and about exploring 3 or four times now half a day at a time. I am gobsmacked what a cracking little bike Im getting used to the riding position The Rotax engine is far better than expected.
I had better remove the mud soon and ACF 50 it .

Now for the bling :-
Barkbusters are fitted along with a Fender Extender. Ive just bought a Tutoro Chain Oiler , soon see if it lives up to Ride mags reccomendation. Worth a punt at £20 seems ok no time to fit it yet.

I fancy fitting a mainstand Motobins have one £140 ish the research continues.
Ive discovered the threads on adv rider and am downloading the Re prom DVD

Maybe R&G axle bobbins, a rear rack and small lockable box oh and a flyscreen later on

Any useful info on the G650x Country appreciated

Regards Frank

enjoy.
I like mine too, although it is a lemon.
changed the bash plate and got crash bars, both from the xchallenge.
then a case saver from Stephan, a Hattech plate and a top box.
a mra sreen.
put in a K&N airfilter and iridium spark plugs.
lights and the seat could do with an upgrade as well.
heated grips and handguards would be fine too.
the oil level measuring is a bit of an art.
never got back from a service, with the seat slotted in right.
safe motoring

They're a great series of bikes (I've got the XC)

Re the rear rack, I went for a Hepco & Becker one (though it was a close run thing between that and the BMW one). Got the H&B one as I also bought matching pannier frames (I can always dream!)

Then bought an Oxford tail/tank bag that fits on the rack perfectly.

If you're interested in upgrading your bash plate to one from a Challenge, let me know as I have one I could sell.

Enjoy your ride!

Gareth

I myself have just bought one, 3 weeks ago. 2007, black and silver, 8200 miles. full service record, touratech tail bag, bmw tank bag. Many other little extras.
Great little bike to ride, engine is very willing and handling is very good. Economy is also good, best so far is 122 miles to reserve light, useable 10 litres.
Looks great next to my GS with same colour scheme. As i dont have a car licence it will make a good addition to the bike family, to work and back, more winter riding :clap.
Great bike, as are others of the X range, over looked, under rated.
Might be intrested in ali bash plate, at the right price :augie.

:beerjug: Dave.

XC Bash Plate

Arma - unable to PM you (are you subscribed?)

How much are you thinking of for the bash plate (to incl postage). Several expressions of interest so may ebay it.

If anyone else interested please feel free to PM me. Gareth

Just found this thread... I'm not subscribed so maybe that's the problem. Mail on ARMA-PARTS at hotmail dot com.
In other news...

After doing a little belated homework there is a very simple airbox mod. The airbox is in 3 parts and fairly easily accessible under the faux tank. There is a bottom a top and a top cover which covers the air filter. The mod is as simple as taking off the top bit and throwing it away. It certainly made mine feel much more responsive with no hesitancy or problems. My next fix is to see about replacing the box lid and fit a much larger and free-flowing filter with some modified intake opening in the tank cover. The bike is very sophisticated and adjusts itself to the airflow with no problems but this is a simple mod you can try yourself with no risk to the bike.
I heard about it on the ADV forum and it works like a charm. Next up is a free-flowing exhaust. Like you I bought this as a hack and have fallen in love with it. Top little bike.
