I have. Dealer puts in Castrol GPS. I top up with GTX Eurolight 10w/40

The bike has done nearly 30k without seizing :)

Used GTX Magnatec for my last two changes on 1150... started using it at 15000 miles....

;)

With a BMW it has a dry clutch so the friction modifiers normally found in car oils, and responsible for killing wet clutches, dont apply here. So it should be ok on that side of things.

What does apply, is typically non water cooled engines like the BMW lump have bigger tolerances and are not really suited to synthetics as they can be too thin.

As with any oil discussion there will be loads of people using full synths with no problems. You pays yer money, you takes your choice.

I spoke to a guy recently who used a Castrol full synth in his R1100 and his bike developed a noisy cam chain adjuster when starting up when the engine was hot. Reverting to dino (mineral) oil cured it.:)
