Can you leave your trickle plugged in all time?

Can i leave my trickle charger plugged into the accessory socket and turned on for long periods in this weather, will it damage the battery?..

Best if you unplug it before riding...

Seriously (as if ), if it's one of the Optimate/Accumate types, then no problem at all. Not sure about conventional chargers though.

I keep my optimate on at all times with no ill effects. Iv'e got a seperate lead to hook up to. Can you buy a jack in plug for the accessory socket then?
