Does anyone have any experience aquiring a permit to work from within Canada? I would very much appreciate your advice if you have! :bow
We have status of Provincial Nominees(BC) and official paperwork to that effect but all the government info suggests that we must gain Permanent Resident status from the Canadian High Commisssion in London before we can work? This means waiting ages(6months!) and the jobs may not still be open by the time PR is approved. Seems daft! The employers are convinced we can just pitch up in Canada, pop over the border to the US with our docs and get the permits on re-entering. I'm confused by all this and it's giving me a big headache :(

if you're emigrating to Canada on the PNP programme, as far as I was aware, once you "landed" into Canada and declared you were an immigrant under the programme, you got PR status.

(it has been sometime since I looked at our stuff )

This is the place to get your answer.

:beerjug: Cheers for the info Snodog, since posting stuff has happened and I think it's all falling into place now :thumb

Hey Duchess, we reckon sometime around Christmas. Paperwork is all in place now, just got to pack up our life here EEK! Bike crate at the ready, few DIY finishing touches on the house, then ship out, two cats bike an' all :) Yeehaw! Does my signature say something about being exitable :D ;) :beerjug:

Sometime around Christmas will be a great to move over here.

Our Maple Syrup will all be in from the Sugar Bushes. :thumb

I also hear there will be a new Toronto Maple leaf Hockey Touqe coming out this fall. :thumb

It's going to a Great Time to be in Canada. :beerjug:

Current 'processing time' for PR applications through London is around 42 months!
Unless you have an AEO from an employer gagging for your skills ;)
