For those of you with the canbus issue, I fixed mine.

Just get 2m of this

Alarm Cable Black 4 core off Amazon

Cut it in and mount the module up near the clocks. Works perfectly…..now.

Alternately just wait until they bring out the bmw cradle mounted model and use the wonder wheel properly….like I wish I had!

For anyone thinking of changing the canbus for the new LIN module, do it!
It’s now completely reliable, plus you get all the same data feeds the new bmw model gives.
It’s also means you can switch between controlling the tft with the wonder wheel or the chigee

I must confess that I haven’t been following all the Chiggee posts and threads.

Can you tell me please, what the ‘new LIN module’ is. I only ask in as much as I might mount a Chigee on my 1600. Having it control the Chigee and / or the TFT screen, might be handy. Of have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Originally the Chigee AIO-5 Lite (not BMW) could only be controlled through the wheel by installing a CGRC-CAN adapter, plugged into the connector under the seat. It listens to the Canbus and allows you to select items on the Chigee screen with the wheel. This DOES NOT work with the R1300GS. There were also 2 versions, a 4-pin version and an 8-pin version, depending on which BMW it was being plugged in to.

There’s now (as in released in last week or two) a new LIN module. It plugs into the GPS connector that the BMW nav cradle would be plugged into and hence means the BMW cradle must be removed. This DOES support the R1300GS. It also allows the Chigee to read extra data, such as tyre pressures, speed etc. It also allows control via the wonder wheel. It works with the original AIO-5 Lite, or the AIO Play. It is not needed with the AIO Play BMW, as the functionality is built into that model (since the Play BMW is inserted into the Nav cradle).

I’m not sure which one you’d need for the 1600, but Chigee do have a page that lists the requirements for each bike.
